The Timur Collection is based on the classic Peranakan style of dining that celebrates our heritage of food in Indonesia with generous portions for meals enjoyed with family and friends. For the collection’s shapes we turned to old style pottery in the extensive antique collection of Jenggala’s longtime friend, the late Rudy Guisti. Historically the Peranakan culture was the marrying of two cultures, and this new collection does much the same with styles of western Indonesia combined with accents from the far eastern part of the archipelago in East Nusa Tenggara. The collection’s shapes and colors are reminiscent of classic ceramic ware, while the decorative finish incorporates intricate ikat woven fabric patterns from the Nusa Tenggara Island of Timor. Made of stoneware this Timur Collection Soup Bowl is versatile for serving soups, rice dishes or as a small serving dish.
Stablished in 1976 in Bali, Jenggala is the foremost manufacturer of quality handcrafted ceramic ware in Indonesia. Our clay body and glazes are all made in house at our facility in Bali. Having supplied many five-star resorts and high-end retailers worldwide, our products and materials are constantly improved to meet international standards.
All of our ceramic products are hand-made, so irregularities and variation in the glaze color, texture and finish are inherent of the processes and are expected. Theses irregularities and variations shouldn’t be looked upon as a defect, as it gives the product unique characteristics, enhancing the aesthetic of each piece.
Our ceramic products can be used in the microwave and are dishwasher-safe, however they should not be exposed to direct heat. Please avoid thermal shock to the product from one extreme temperature to another.
Stainless steel and some metals may leave marks on our some of our matte/satin glaze surfaces. This is due to surface of the glaze being harder than the metal and small fragments of the metal collecting in the microscopic pores on the surface of the glaze. This does not damage the glaze and can be removed. To remove marks left by metal utensils, dishes may be cleaned with a stainless steel polish. We have found the brand, Polaris, to yield the best results.
Jenggala has qualified and maintains the strict ISO Quality Assurance System as well as certification of Standard National Indonesia for Food Safe and Chip Resistant quality ceramic tableware.
